When you want to start betting on sports from Sweden, you likely want to deposit, bet and withdraw Swedish Kronor to avoid currency exchange fees. Find out which betting sites offer Swedish Krona accounts.

If you want to bet on sports from Sweden, naturally you want to be able to bet in your native national currency without having to exchange funds and thus save about 5% in hidden currency conversion costs that would arise if you register an account in a currency other than the Krone.  For the best betting sites for Sweden, all those listed below offer a top experience and offer SEK accounts.

Swedish Krona Bookmaker Banking Methods

Paypal, Skrill, EcoPayz and Neteller are popular e-wallet payment solution providers that offer Swedish Krona balances to complement your SEK betting site account so you may avoid exchange fees.  Trustly is a popular bank transfer provider that is widely available to use at betting sites from Sweden.  Debit cards, credit cards and bank transfers are also widely available.  The one often-listed payment method with which you should take care is Entropay.

Entropay virtual Visa numbers are a great method for online payments, but they are only available in USD, EUR and GBP.  So while you could technically use Entropay to fund your SEK account, you would certainly be exchanging funds to do so, actually twice.  If you have both Krona betting account and Krona base funding source, you would exchange funds once to fill the Entropay card and then exchange these funds again at the bookmaker site to fill the SEK betting account.   Both conversions will include hidden fees.  Only use Entropay if you really need to, or if your betting account will be in one of these other three currencies.

Comparing Odds at Swedish Krona Betting sites

In order to get the maximum potential payouts for your wagers of interest, you may wish to compare your betting odds, whether for single, combination or system wagers.  Potential payouts can range significantly between betting providers.  However, it is most helpful to find the best odds with a service that takes your native currency into consideration so you may avoid betting sites that are essentially irrelevant for your purposes.  That’s why oddsjet.com is the odds comparison site that is likely best for bettors in Sweden.  They only display odds and potential payouts from top Sweden betting sites that offer Swedish Krona accounts and payment methods.

About the Swedish Krona

The krona, noted sometimes as SEK, or kr, has been the currency of Sweden since 1873. In English, the currency is sometimes referred to as the Swedish crown, as krona literally means crown in Swedish. One krona is subdivided into 100 öre. However, all öre coins have been discontinued as of 30 September 2010. Goods can still be priced in öre, but all sums are rounded to the nearest krona when paying with cash. As it stands, Sweden is more and more becoming a cashless society as more people pay with card or mobile payment solutions.

Swedish Krona History

The introduction of the krona was a result of the Scandinavian Monetary Union, which came into effect in 1876 and lasted until the beginning of World War I. The krona replaced the riksdaler at a par value.  The parties to the union were the Scandinavian countries, where the name was krona in Sweden and krone in Denmark and Norway, which in English literally means "crown". The three currencies were on the gold standard, with the krona/krone defined in value as 1⁄2480 of a kilogram of pure gold.  After dissolution of the monetary union in August 1914, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway all decided to keep the names of their respective but now separate currencies.

Swedish Krona in World Currency Markets

In 1994, the Accession Treaty was to lead Sweden to enter the Eurozone and the country would adopt the Euro as its currency. However, in 2003, a referendum was held on the matter and 56% of voters voted against entering the Eurozone, so the krona remains Sweden's national currency.  The Euro however is the currency for which the krona is most traded.  View SEK to EUR rate now.
